Honoré Bakery

Update on 6/10/2016: Unfortunately Honoré Bakery has been sold.

What should I try? Tough decision to make!

Everything was so refined and tempting. We came back home with a fantastic Pain au Levain, a Chocolate and Salted Caramel tart (maybe too much caramel), and a pretty good Milk Chocolate and Hazelnut mousse. I need to go back for the Kouign Aman. They have a fabulous one at Crumble and Flake but I would like to try this one.

Brunch at the Fat Hen

Fat Hen is a casual little restaurant in a residential neighborhood between Phinney Ridge and Ballard. The Pantry, Delancey Pizza, and Saint Honoré Bakery are across the street.

The first time I went there with a friend, it was on a gloomy fall day and we liked the brightness of  the space.

The menu is short and features mainly Toasts on Levain Bread, Eggs Benedict and Baked Eggs.

We went there twice and all dishes we had were very simple but really well done and very tasty.

Eggs benedict with avocado and salad
Baked eggs with mozzarella, tomato sauce, sausage, and basil.
Eggs Benedict with Chanterelles and potatoes
Avocado and pepper flakes on levain bread

The place is really small, so even on a week day be prepared to wait or come early.

You can have a coffee or a piece of cake while your wait. We shared a slice of citrus tea cake that was fantastic.

Open Tues-Sun from 8am through 3pm.

Venue in Ballard

Venue is a store that offers fun, local, and unique arts and crafts in every price range. Photo, jewelry, cards, mugs, printed T-shirts… you can find very cool gifts.

Venue is a store but also a Gallery and a Studio where you can see artists working on their art.

This is the place where I discovered Seattle based photographer, Christopher Boffoli’s work. Venue sells his cards and book “Big Appetites”. Here is his website: Big Appetites
